A kick-off meeting marked the official commencement of the EU-funded project ‘Supervision of Construction of Subotica and Kalenic Regional Waste Management Centres’ held earlier this month at the Delegation of the European Union in Belgrade, Serbia.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the achievement of the National Waste Management Strategy 2010-2019 of Republic of Serbia and EU Directives on Waste Management and Environment Protection, in turn leading to a better state of environment and public health. The specific objective is to help the development of reliable waste management systems in Serbia by supporting the consortium of Regional Waste Management Centres (RWMC) for Subotica and Kolubara (Kalenic) regions in particular. The purpose of this Contract is to provide adequate technical assistance and advise to the Contracting Authority and consultancy services for the supervision of the works and supply of the equipment for the construction of the two Regional Waste Management Centres.

The following three main areas of intervention are regarded as priority throughout the project implementation: Technical assistance support to the contracting Authority and End Beneficiaries, Technical advice for financial and operational performance improvement of End Beneficiaries; and Supervising the implementation of the works contracts, for which the Consultant is expected to fulfil all duties of the “Engineer” as specified in the FIDIC Conditions of Contracts.

The Project is funded by the European Union and implemented from February 2014 until January 2018, by ECG in Consortium with Consulgal, IDOM, and Louis Berger.
