An intensive three-day Study Tour was organized during the month of May within the EU-funded project “Institutional Capacity Development of 3 Innovation Centres and the Research Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina” for representatives from the Innovation Centres from Mostar (Technology Park INTERA), Zenica (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre in University of Zenica), and  Banja Luka (ICBL), in addition to representatives of their stakeholder organisations and representatives of the project.

The study tour was rated successful by the participants due to the reputation of the sites visited and the relevance of Slovenia’s economy as innovation-driven, with a progressive approach to innovation and entrepreneurship. The main purpose of the Study Tour was to raise awareness of the project’s staff of the Innovation Centres and their stakeholders on: national/regional innovation support system and its actors’ roles/services; public intervention models (grant-schemes/measures) for innovation support; best practices of project pipeline building for innovation support; services and modus operandi (kitchen) of the Innovation  Centres; partnership development of the Innovation Centres; clientele development for the Innovation Centres; organisational and individual capacity development of the Innovation Centres. The Study Tour group visited the Ministry for Economic Development and Technology of Republic of Slovenia, Ljubljana Technology Park, Incubator in University of Ljubljana,  Primorska Technology Park in Nova Gorica, and Hidria Ltd.

The project “Institutional Capacity Development of 3 Innovation Centres and the Research Sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina” (EuropeAid/129575/C/SER/BA), is an EU-funded project with an overall value of 534.460 Eur, and implemented by ECG in consortium with the Lithuanian Innovation Centre and the Austrian Council. The overall objective of the project is to improve the competitiveness and productivity of the specific community and economic impact of BiH to be able to participate more actively in the European Research area and to be more involved in international scientific cooperation through the FP7, COST and EUREKA programmes. The main project purposes include: Innovation System Development, Research and Innovation Support Measures, Implementation of the STI Statistics Action Plan.
