Series of training “Control of classical swine fever and rabies” started

Training “Control of classical swine fever and rabies,” tailor-made for veterinarian, inspectors, veterinary officials and farmers, started on 5 October 2015, with the training for Veterinary inspection and Veterinary Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection. The trainings are one of the components of the project “Capacity Building for the development of the National Animal Disease Compensation Fund and other services”, implemented by the Veterinary Directorate, with European Union technical support.

Internationally recognized experts Professor Trevor Drew, Pasquale Simonetti and Domenico Rutille, together with Team Leader Dr. Mirzet Sabirovic, introduced the participants with international standards and the role of the competent authorities in the control of Classical Swine Fever and Rabies. They presented worldwide implemented strategies for CSF control and the procedures and principles for achievement of CSF-free status. Also, they presented overview of Serbian legislation and roadmap for maintaining the strategy in Serbia through the work plan, roles and responsibilities of each participant in the process of control. In a lively discussion, which was moderated by Head of Animal Health and Welfare Department Budimir Plavsic, participants highlighted the number of challenges they found on the site, shared their visions and suggested solutions for challenges. Participants were introduced with good international practice and solutions of similar issues in Europe. Training for veterinarians and farmers will be held during October and November in Subotica, Novi Sad, Nis, Pozarevac and Sabac.

The Project is implemented by European Consulting Group in Consortium with Tragsatec, IAK, and Ankey.
