BiH, in accordance with the specific administrative structure of the country, has a multifaceted system of bodies and institutions with a mandate to prevent and combat corruption. According to the law, entities, Brčko District BiH (BD BiH) and cantons are to establish anticorruption body at a respective level, while the APIK is to coordinate work of these bodies. Some of these bodies are already established and functional, such as the APIK, the Team for monitoring and coordination of the implementation of the general plan in the fight against corruption of the government of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and Commission for monitoring of implementation of Anticorruption Strategy and Action plan of the Republika Srpska (Commission), while in the BD BiH, process of establishment of Independent Body for prevention of corruption and coordination of the fight against corruption in pending. Cantons in the Federation of BiH are either in the very early stage of this process or have not started it yet, which would be a strong drawback in the implementation of the Strategy and the Action Plan as well as for the fight against corruption in BiH in general.
