Project description: The overall objective of the project is to assist the country’s authorities in harmonization and preparation for full implementation of EU acquis in the area of animal health and welfare. The purpose of the project is to support the process of harmonization of legislation with EU legislation in the area of animal health and welfare, to ensure appropriate awareness of all stakeholders and public, to disseminate information and to improve the communication with all relevant stakeholders on animal welfare standards and to strengthen institutional and administrative capacities of competent authorities for enforcement of new animal health and welfare legislatives

Position: Key Expert 2: Animal health expert

Qualification and skills

  • University degree (where a university degree has been awarded on completion of four or more years of study in a university or equivalent institution) in Veterinary medicine;

General professional experience

  • Minimum 8 (eight) years of postgraduate professional experience in the field of EU animal health policy and/or legislation (or national equivalent) and/or OIE standards in an EU Member State/s or in a candidate/potential candidate country/ies;

Specific professional experience

  • Minimum 4 (four) years of postgraduate professional experience on monitoring, and/or controls and/or enforcement of EU acquis based animal health and welfare standards in a senior and/or advisory position in the field of animal health in an EU Member State/s, or in a candidate/potential candidate country/ies;
  • Experience as a Key Expert or RTA in capacity building projects in potential/candidate countries will be considered an advantage;
  • Experience in education and/or awareness raising programmes related to veterinary matters will be considered an advantage;
  • Experience in design and delivery of training programmes for governmental and field veterinarians will be considered an advantage;
