The implementation of the project “Promotion and Protection of Property Rights of Internally Displaced Persons Refugees and Returnees upon Readmission Agreements”, for the most part financed by the EU through national program IPA 2013, has officially began on 22 August 2016. The beneficiary institution of this project is Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

The main objective of this project, whose total value is 3.651.630 euros, is protection and realization of basic human rights with an accent on property rights of internally displaced persons, refugees and returnees upon readmission.

In the following 24 months, the project will be implemented by the European Consulting Group with headquarters in Belgrade (Francuska 5). The envisaged activities include set up of legal aid offices throughout Serbia, primarily in the locations with the highest concentrations of IDPs, refugees and returnees upon readmission.

Besides provision of free legal aid, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija puts a special emphasis on representation of internally displaced persons and internally-internally displaced persons before the courts in Kosovo and Metohija which will enable one of the most vulnerable group of citizens of the Republic of Serbia to take back its illegally occupied, damaged or destroyed property, as well as to realize its other rights they were deprived of in the past 17 years.

The project “Promotion and Protection of Property Rights of Internally Displaced Persons Refugees and Returnees upon Readmission Agreements” represents continuation of previous free legal aid projects financed by the EU through IPA programs, whose beneficiary was the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
