Project description

The overall objective of the project was to support the improvement of animal health in Serbia through development and implementation of national strategies to eradicate, control and monitor rabies in foxes and to eradicate, control and monitor Classical Swine Fever (CSF) in pig population as well to prevent the spread of CSF from feral pig population to domestic pig, thus improving the prospects for trade of agricultural products.

The project was implemented through 5 components:

Component 1: Campaign branding – to design a logo of the National Programme for Eradication of Rabies and CSF that will be applicable for both animal diseases’ publicity activities and that will contribute to identification of the Programme;

Component 2: Establishing and maintaining Web communication channel– to design and develop a Website for the National Programme that will continuously inform, educate and present target audience with the Programme activities and results;

Component 3: Capacity building – to build capacity and educate media representatives and all other actors and stakeholders in the process of eradication and control of these two diseases, and involve them in this process to increase their sense of ownership of the mutual and strategic goal which is a CSF and Rabies free EU candidate (and ultimately EU Member) state;

Component 4: Above the Line (ATL) activities – to use the most efficient ATL advertising tools to gain as much attention of large portions of population and target audience as possible on the National Programme, to improve knowledge of general public and target groups, to announce and inform about present on-going process and to ensure that media are capable to communicate health emergencies on rabies and CSF in a correct and responsible way.

Component 5: BTL activities – to ensure campaign presence among target audience throughout the entire project duration through production and distribution of info/promo materials and through the participation at events of target audience interest.
